So, I TRI'd it.

I did the Gold Nugget Womens Triathlon yesterday. 500 yd swim. 10 mile bike. 4.1 run.
I lived to tell the tale. ;) I'm so glad I did it! It terrified me into joining the masters swim team, which I'm so grateful for. I love getting out of the house 3 times a week and doing something for myself that I enjoy so much, and is good for me too.
Alex took Conrad to a birthday party yesterday. He managed to wrap the presents, bring the cake I made, bring the special gluten & dairy free cupcakes for Conrad, and get the kid ready. Alex should get a finisher shirt too!

And here's a few of my latest creations for Conrad. Don't ever think that Conrad is deprived! ;) Sure he eats lots of veggies, rice and soy smoothies (a good thing I might add!)... but he still gets one of his favorites! Conrad LOVES cheese pizza. So I made him rice flour crust pizza w/ vegan soy "cheese". He loved it, ate 3 pieces in a row. Also pictured are the chocolate cupcakes I made him- so he wouldn't be left out at the birthday party. :)

I'll end with some lyrics to the "Sunscreen Song" by Baz Luhrman. As I was running over creek bridges yesterday, mountains in the backgrounds, and hearing nothing but my own breath... I kept replaying this song in my head over and over.

Conrad Beckham.

Conrad started soccer today! He had a good time for about 15 minutes, then he was cold and tired! Good thing it's only a 45 minute practice! ;)

Dandelions & Popsicles.

It was 60 degrees here today! Conrad and I took a walk on the coastal trail this morning and the smell of spring is here! Spring (and Summer actually) here in Alaska smells incredible, like blooming and reawakening is the only way to describe it. If I could bottle it up and send it to all of you I would. (Guess you'll have to visit;)) Conrad was so sweet on the walk. So quiet. He just took it all in!
The sun is now setting at 10:30. Which means, as I write this nearing midnight, the sky is still dusky blue.
This afternoon we went to the Aurora Waldorf School May Faire with friends Amber and her little guy Alden.

I'm not crossing my fingers...

...Could spring be here? The snow is pretty much all melted! Here's Conrad outside on his bike today. He's dressed by his Aunties today! The Duluth Pack tee from Robin, and the pants from Aunt Megan.
...and check out the new Adidas shoes! We got him all outfitted for soccer-he starts next week! I didn't know you could buy soccer balls that small! So cute! Besides the ball we got him shin guards, socks and shorts. I'll be sure to take lots of pics! :)
Sorry for the lack of posts. I took Conrad on a bike ride along the trail on Friday and it was amazing. Glassy calm water and snowy mountains. I brought the camera and started to try and snap a few pics and of course, no memory card!! Beauty and brains! Baby, I've got it all. haha. ;)
