Conrad Montage!

Here's a few pics of Conrad throughout the week!

Here's Conrad mid-laugh at the dinner table Thursday night. The mess is peanut butter. He is OBSESSED with peanut butter smeared on apple slices. He ate 3 apples alone on Thursday. I can't complain I guess!

Here's Conrad wearing my ancient swim cap and some goggles. I've been swimming lately.

Here's Conrad ASLEEP in the stroller. We've been trying to get out and go for walks in the evening. Conrad falls asleep every time! (yes, it's a good thing)

Here's Ryder, Alex, and Conrad on the couch tonight. We babysat Ryder again tonight and it was awesome. Conrad and him just play and play! So easy! Oh and they're eating tootsie pops! Alex is now addicted to tootsie pops... much better than the alternative. :)

Sunday

I think Conrad might be getting sick of the picture taking. What do you think? ;)

Not much new around here. Alex went out last night to the Alaska Beer & Barleywine Festival with the guys. I hung out with some friends and we made dinner with the kids.
Our friend Dan was featured on the front page of the Anchorage Daily News today. Here's the link if you want to check it out. It's an incredibly honest article, really wonderful.

Moose!

This afternoon we had a moose calf snacking in our front lawn... Then he moved onto the bushes- inches away from our window!

Of course I couldn't post without a few pictures of Conrad. :)
He's really been digging his headlamp he received for Christmas. We used it last night on a walk after dinner as a little beacon for him in the dark!

Craziness!

Hi! Long time, no post! We had a crazy, fun, but very busy weekend! So much I don't know where to begin actually. The craziness started Friday with two trips to the water park since, I went xc skiing with a friend Friday, Alex downhill skiing twice (once Fri. then Sat.), hot tubbing at the Simpsons on Friday, and then Girls Night on Saturday.... the house is destroyed but we had a good time. :)
I went to the Hillside trails (I usually go to Kincaid) on Friday for xc skiing and hilly was right. You really have to work going up the hills, but then you just FLY down. It was beyond exhilarating and my body is still sore. It was awesome! I'll have to go there again.
The downside to all this is... well I didn't take any pictures. I take that back. I DID take pictures. LOTS. On Saturday night. But I'm not publishing them on the internet... Let's just say after dinner we went to a dive bar... where a man that played the guitar with his teeth... serenaded me "Scarlet Begonias". :P~
I leave you with this picture I took Thursday after three days of light snow. I took this standing in my front door. It faces across the street. Note our xmas lights and wind chime!

Just another manic Monday.

Yesterday we had a friend over for the day! Our friends Amy & Brandon didn't have daycare yesterday, so their son Ryder came to play at our house. I thought 2 kids was going to be crazy-ha! It was like a vacation! Conrad and Ryder played and played! Not being the focal point of Conrad's entertainment was great-I wish Ryder was here everyday;)! Anyway here's a few pics of them together. The first is in our living room. The second two are in front of our house. They are on the pull sled we got for Christmas from my parents.

Oh! And leave us some comments once and a while!

Funday.

Not much going on around here. We spent the day cleaning up around the house and ordered a pizza (Mooses Tooth, of course).
Thought I'd give y'all a Conrad fix. ;)
Here's him this morning 'riding' Molli. No worries, he was gentle-it's not as it appears. Molli LOVES Conrad, she follows him around all the time.

This afternoon he came out the bathroom wearing a long necklace and sparkly headband. Here he's readjusting the band. It was pretty hilarious.

And this one is for Uncle Kiel. I apologize for the blurriness! Kiel sent Conrad these pj's for Christmas. Along with a boxful of other Spiderman goodies that Conrad didn't put down for a full week! Here's Conrad, just minutes ago fresh from his bath!

Two Peas in a Pod.

I took this completely unflattering nose shot of Conrad and I this morning- mid laugh of course.
Now people tell me all the time how much Conrad looks like me. I, of course, always see the Alex in him. Well, I see me here.

Fargo Born, but Alaska Grown.

I think I'm going to like this blogging business... ;)
As I write this there are two moose (a mama and her large "baby") snacking on our neighbors trees. If I had a decent camera, or was just plain crazy I could get a picture of them for you. Not the case, so...
Here's a picture of Conrad from today. "Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!"

A "grate" 2008.

Hi family and friends,

As you can see, I've moved our updates from email to blog form. I hope this will be easier for everyone to access our updates and stay involved in our lives, since we are so far away. I plan to update this a couple of times a week. That being said I can guarantee not every post will be exciting or adventurous... A lot of our daily lives, maybe a recipe or two (since word is I can cook), and of course LOTS of pictures of Conrad!

On NYE we had dinner with friends. Then we went downtown to check out the fireworks. (We do fireworks here on New Years instead of Fourth of July-due to the summer sun).
Here's Alex and Conrad checking out the show:

Today we started out the new year by going for another cross country ski. Wow, let me tell you it is not like jumping back on a bicycle. I'm really having to work at it! Alex on the other hand took to it easily. He's been downhill skiing quite a bit lately (twice this weekend alone), so I'm sure that helps.
We have a stroller called a Chariot that you can buy many attachments to and convert it into a jogger, bike trailer or even a cross country ski attachment! Our friends the Berry's lent us the latter, we love it!

Here's Conrad ready to go in the parking lot!

Tonight we made a yummy Moose Stew. Our CSA box has been full of potatoes, onions and carrots lately so it was meant to be.
The "recipe".
1 lb stew meat (we used moose)
6 very small carrots
like 8 potatoes (for a chef, I just throw stuff in!:))
1 T chopped fresh rosemary
1/2 yellow onion
3 cloves garlic
2 c water
1/2 bottle Black Butte Porter
s &p to taste
We just threw it in the crock pot, went skiing, and voila!
