Hi family and friends,
As you can see, I've moved our updates from email to blog form. I hope this will be easier for everyone to access our updates and stay involved in our lives, since we are so far away. I plan to update this a couple of times a week. That being said I can guarantee not every post will be exciting or adventurous... A lot of our daily lives, maybe a recipe or two (since word is I can cook), and of course LOTS of pictures of Conrad!
On NYE we had dinner with friends. Then we went downtown to check out the fireworks. (We do fireworks here on New Years instead of Fourth of July-due to the summer sun).
Here's Alex and Conrad checking out the show:

Today we started out the new year by going for another cross country ski. Wow, let me tell you it is not like jumping back on a bicycle. I'm really having to work at it! Alex on the other hand took to it easily. He's been downhill skiing quite a bit lately (twice this weekend alone), so I'm sure that helps.
We have a stroller called a Chariot that you can buy many attachments to and convert it into a jogger, bike trailer or even a cross country ski attachment! Our friends the Berry's lent us the latter, we love it!
Here's Conrad ready to go in the parking lot!

The contraption:

The incredible Chugach (and Alex too!)

Conrad "relaxing" after the ski.

Tonight we made a yummy Moose Stew. Our CSA box has been full of potatoes, onions and carrots lately so it was meant to be.
The "recipe".
1 lb stew meat (we used moose)
6 very small carrots
like 8 potatoes (for a chef, I just throw stuff in!:))
1 T chopped fresh rosemary
1/2 yellow onion
3 cloves garlic
2 c water
1/2 bottle Black Butte Porter
s &p to taste
We just threw it in the crock pot, went skiing, and voila!
